Ah! Poetry is for the heart, to ponder. The poem below was penned by my sister, Mary E. Martin, entitled Hardscrabble Pass. It describes feelings may have had as they travel west on U.S. Highway 96, "up the pass", down into the Valley and entering Westcliffe. This poem has few words, yet they are full of thoughts we experience as we drive home. Enjoy. -- Gary Martin
