A portion of the history of the railroad that served Westcliffe & Silver Cliff is revealed below in the Railroad Notes by Bud Piquette. Bud is one of our premier local historians. The railroad notes span from August 11, 1897 to June 12, 1901. They all come from the now extinct Silver Cliff Rustler newspaper. This was during the transition of the Denver & Rio Grande Railroad from narrow gauge to standard gauge.
